Even the strongest couples need a little help! Are you and your partner experiencing any of the  issues or conflicts below?

Common issues in couples therapy at Tapestry Counseling:
  • Pre-marital
  • Pre-divorce (discernment)
  • Communication
  • Infidelity
  • Codependency
  • Trauma
  • Parenting differences
  • Conflict resolution
  • Stress management
  • Blended families
  • Life transitions/stressors
  • In-laws
  • Role Assignments/Household division of labor

Are you fighting the same fights?
Have you lost your connection?
Do you or your partner feel misunderstood, angry, or alone?

  • Working from a systems lens, I work with you and your partner to identify the root of your conflict and foster a climate where you can safely share your vulnerability and grow your attachment and intimacy.
  • Intimate relationships are similar to a mechanical system, each part relying on the other to keep the system functioning. Sometimes, a broken system's parts can adapt and still manage to run- at lesser power or productivity
  • In couples counseling, I work from a systemic viewpoint, believing that:
a)Your life experiences inform your thoughts
         b)Your thoughts inform your feelings
         c)Your feelings inform your actions
         d)Your actions then influence your
partner's feelings, vice versa, and so the
          cycle continues.
  • In couples therapy with me, you and your partner will learn practical communication skills, how to reconnect and become a team, and more importantly, learn to identify the broken parts in your system's cycle and restore it back to full functioning.

As your couple's therapist...

  • I am influenced by family systems theories as described above. I draw from several different frameworks and theories. Primarily, I draw my theoretical and practical methods from Solutions-Focused Brief Therapy, Gottman Method Couples Therapy, Emotionally-Focused Couples Therapy, and Internal Family Systems.
  • In addition, as a Military spouse, I understand the unique challenges of being part of a couple in the Armed Forces and partner with you to meet the challenging demands of the Military lifestyle.
  • Please be advised that I cannot work with couples who have cycles of active and/or untreated domestic violence or substance abuse issues. I would be happy to offer referrals, however.

I look forward to speaking with you soon!
